Eliza - 5 months old

* Eliza's 1st Thanksgiving was spent sick. She was so congested, running a fever, coughing and was starting to sound very wheezy.
* On Sunday, the 25th, she'd projectile vomited one too many times for my piece of mind, so I took her to the ER. What I thought was going to be a "quick" trip, turned into her being admitted. She could not regulate her pulse ox without oxygen.
They started her on an IV, oxygen, breathing treatments and deep nasal suctioning. They tested her for RSV, the flu, and pertussis; she also had a chest x-ray done. We were put in a room about 4am on Monday, the 26th.
The doctor came in around noon and said that her flu & RSV tests had come back negative. She told us that with the amount of oxygen she was on, that she'd probably be in the hospital for a few days. We were given an "official" diagnosis of bronchiolitis.
* Day 2: She was still pretty wheezy & puny on Tuesday.
* Day 3: The doctor thought she was doing better than the day before; she wasn't struggling as hard to breathe. They turned off her iv & the oxygen. Her pulse ox held pretty steady at first. But it ended up being short lived. She was put back on oxygen early Thursday morning (day 4).
During rounds she was back up to 1/2L of oxygen & still hovering between 90-93%. Dr still thought she was breathing too hard.
* Day 5: Weaning off oxygen, Take 2! Dr thought she looked good but she was still pulling a little hard on her right side. Pulse ox was staying out of the 80's until she went to sleep. About an hour after her oxygen was turned off, she was put back on it. Another day in the hospital.
* Day 6: Poor Elz had a rough night. She was pretty agitated & started running a fever. Weaning off the oxygen didn't go too well either. They tried again after rounds & she started off pretty good. Once she fell asleep she started satting in the 80's. Dr said she looked good, but still sounded kind of crackly. She'd also had another spit up episode so they had to step up the suctioning before she nursed.
* Day 7: She finally went 24 hours with NO oxygen and we were able to leave. I think that was the longest week of my life as a mother. My poor baby was sick and my oldest 3 were an absolute wreck. I had to go home every night to pack another day's worth of clothes and when I left it was a lot of hysterical crying. My parents really helped out with them. My dad took off work all week so he could watch my 2 nephews for my sister and my girls. My husband was able to take off 2 days to stay at the hospital with us, but then had to get back to work after that. My sisters helped with the girls when they could. It was rough trying to figure it all out.
* We followed up with our ped. 3 days after we got home. She hadn't been notified by the hospital that Eliza had been admitted and she was so sad about it! She set us up with a nebulizer & albuterol in case she started getting bad again. She also had an ear infection, which she said was common after a viral infection.
* Eliza's 1st tooth popped through around December 15th and the 2nd one was close behind.
* She is sitting up so well, with very little assistance.
